Why the source matters as much as the message
We like to think empathy is about the words. This study suggests it is also about who we believe is behind them. The same sentence lands differently depending on whether a person or a machine is on the other side.
That has a practical edge for leaders. AI can help you draft the message, organise the thought, even soften the tone. But the moment people sense that care has been outsourced, the care stops counting. What changes when you build your own AI perspective is that you learn where the tool genuinely helps and where your own presence is the entire point.
The lesson is not to hide AI. It is to keep the human parts human. Use the tool for the work around the conversation, and show up yourself for the conversation itself.
