Who Are You Without the Title?
14 mag 2026
A lot of senior leaders are quietly asking who they actually are without the title.
It is a topic I keep hearing in coaching sessions but almost never in meetings.
If that thought has crossed your mind too, this one is for you.
AI is not coming for your job first. It is quietly testing something else: what is actually yours, and what was the company's all along. The badge was on loan. The question is what remains when you set it down.
It is uncomfortable in the right way. And it is worth sitting with before circumstances force the question for you.
Want a space to think through who you are beyond the role? My executive coaching is here.
The badge was on loan
Titles do a quiet thing to us. Over years, the role and the person blur, until it is hard to tell where the job ends and you begin. That works fine, right up until the title changes or disappears.
The healthiest leaders I work with have done the separation early, on purpose. They know which parts of their standing come from the badge, and which come from them. This is one of the things executive coaching actually solves: it gives you a place to ask the uncomfortable question before circumstances ask it for you.
A simple exercise helps. Write down what you would still be known for if the title vanished tomorrow. The list is usually shorter than expected, and far more honest. That list is what is actually yours, and it is worth investing in.
If this resonates and you want something practical you can use, I have a free AI Coach Tünde Light set of self-coaching prompts you can use on your own to start separating who you are from the role you hold. Leave your email here and I will send it over: https://www.thechangerepublic.com/free-resources
