E se il tuo stile di leadership fosse accattivante come un trucco di magia?
What if your leadership style was as captivating as a magic trick?
Recently, I attended an intimate event featuring a magician whose performance was mind-boggling, both on and off stage. As I watched, captivated, I realized that magicians and leaders share more than I knew.
Performing magic without fancy lights isn't easy. You can't rely on distractions; it's all about you, under the spotlight.
There's nowhere to hide, and you need an exceptional level of skill. It struck me that this vulnerability is similar to the challenges faced by top leaders.
Here are my top three leadership lessons from this magical encounter:
* Share the credit: A volunteer held a scrambled Rubik's cube, which the magician covered. Upon unveiling, the cube was solved! Yet, the magician attributed the success to the volunteer, demonstrating humility (and fun!) that made us love his show even more.
* Know your audience: The magician's ability to remember names and personal details made the show feel engaging. Great leaders do the same with clients or teams, taking the time to build trust and getting better experience and result on the table.
* Fail forward: Don't dwell on minor flaws; trust your abilities. You've put in the hard work, and your talent will shine through.
At the end, jaws are dropped and lively discussions started on possible solutions to the trick. As leaders, we can learn from these masters of illusion. By sharing credit, truly knowing our clients teams, and embracing failures as opportunities for growth, we can create a leadership style that's both effective and enchanting.
