Il perfezionismo costa alla tua squadra.
Perfectionism costs your team.
This article explores how perfectionism erodes trust, learning, and psychological safety in teams — especially under the pressure of AI-driven change. These insights reflect our leadership work at The Change Republic.
Focus: AI leadership | Executive Coaching | What AI Can’t Hear
I am coaching a brilliant manager whose goal is to share the load with her team. She has a record of success, yet she’s stuck in a familiar loop:
⇉ “If I don’t solve it, it won’t be perfect.”
So she rewrites every slide, polishes every number. At the same time, she worries how to keep her team interested and engaged. Meanwhile, her people stand at the bottom of the staircase, watching her sprint up and down alone.
↠ Perfectionism is exhausting-for her and for them.
Let me be honest here. As her executive coach, I see a past version of myself in her story. I remember late nights fixing colleagues’ drafts, convinced only I could get it right. The work shipped, but no one else felt true ownership.
After a couple of sessions reflecting on her journey, she asked me:
“What if my perfect solution is the very thing blocking their first step?”
It’s like gripping the stair rail so tightly that no one else can place a hand on it. Once she noticed her white knuckles, she can finally let go and invite others upward.
The rewards?
• A team that owns the work, crafts richer solutions, and climbs the stairs beside her.
Have you seen this happen on a team?
