I recently worked with an executive coaching client, let us call her Nora. She had just been promoted to lead a department, a huge accomplishment.

But she was full of self-doubt.

Nora questioned every bit of praise. She felt like she had gotten the promotion by some chance and she thought people will realize that she was not up to the task.

This fear kept her from making important decisions. She was paralyzed, that it would turn out, she was a fraud. She was trapped in her own mind.

Over the next few months, we worked together to understand the root of these feelings. We dug deep and she faced her fears directly, turning each one into an opportunity for growth. It was not easy, but she was incredibly brave.

Four months later, the change is remarkable.

Nora's communication skills have improved dramatically, making her a joy to work with, according to upward feedback from her team

She has finally made some long-overdue decisions about budgeting, trusting her instincts and expertise

Most importantly, she is feeling confident and ready for even bigger challenges.

Nora is not her real name. But honestly, I think many of us could have felt like Nora. Self-doubt is a universal struggle.
