Can old friends help you reach new heights?
Can old friends help you reach new heights?
I am currently diving deep into an executive coaching program at IMD with my dear friend, Irina. We have been through it all together over the past 20 years—from colleagues to close friends, sharing trainings, travels, and countless life moments.
You would think years of experience would make it easier, but diving into a new field like this is surprisingly humbling. It's a new dimension to the big juggling act of work and life commitments.
And even though I have years of experience in my field, stepping into this new role as a student at IMD brings a whole new set of anxieties. Imposter syndrome is real (again), and those "am I good enough?" thoughts creep in (again).
But let me tell you, having Irina as my companion in this learning journey makes all the difference. We have been part of each other's personal and professional path over twenty years, through thick and thin. Our shared history gives me the confidence to go for this new challenge.
On top of this, I believe in the power of continuous learning—we never truly start from zero, as every experience builds upon the last. Our skills are remarkably transferable, and my own career journey, with its many twists and turns, has taught me that change is inevitable.
In fact, change is here to stay and I am here to shape the path.
Is it all smooth sailing? Definitely not! But that's part of the journey. This experience, like all learning opportunities, is what we make it. And with Irina by my side, I know we'll make the most of it, each in our own way.
I'm so excited to head back to campus in December for the next chapter of this adventure with Cohort 5! We are ready for new adventures and continued growth, both personally and professionally.
Who is motivating you to learn something new?
