AI solved the answer problem. Now we have a question problem.

AI solved the answer problem. Now we have a question problem.

A recent big study to Chief Learning Leaders confirms what I’ve been saying:

"While technical expertise is essential, it is ultimately the distinctly human qualities—such as judgment, empathy, and the ability to build relationships—that must remain the primary drivers of how AI is developed and applied."

If you prefer the short version: If AI handles the answers, human qualities become your edge.

And human qualities show up most clearly in the questions we ask.

At a recent conference, I opened with this question:

"If AI can give us almost any answer in seconds, what will set leaders apart?"

Here’s what I’ve noticed:

The leaders who thrive in the age of AI aren’t the ones with the best prompts.

They’re the ones asking the questions that AI can’t truly grasp:

What’s really driving this resistance to change?

What are we not seeing here?

How does this align with who we want to be?

These questions require judgment, empathy, and relationship-building.

So my bet is to stop giving answers and start asking the questions that matter most.

What's your bet?
