Shaping the future with confidence means having some 'crazy' ideas...
... and the courage to actually execute on them.
As my trip visiting our great EY teams in India wraps up, I have been thinking back.
Just a year ago, we started a big new project: helping with sustainability audits across our Europe West region, in a large part remotely with our teams here in India.
It was a bold idea, and it definitely surprised some people!
Going into something new like that, without a clear plan but knowing our goal, is a very humbling experience. You're exploring new ground, feeling both excited and unsure.
And naturally, questions start coming up, especially when trying to work together remotely on this scale. 'What if we fail?' 'Can we keep up the good work?
These worries are big challenges when you are trying something for the first time.
There were certainly times when we stopped and asked ourselves: "Is this a bold move, or just plain crazy?"
But getting past that fear takes a lot of courage and real curiosity to try new things. We learned that creating a really safe environment – where people felt comfortable speaking up, sharing ideas, and yes, even making mistakes we could learn from quickly – was incredibly important.
Understanding and respecting our different cultures became a real strength for us, not something that held us back.
And the results? We're on a fantastic journey, showing that great teamwork and high-quality results can definitely happen remotely. It really changed how we all think about what's possible.
Now, as we look ahead to the next phase of this work, we are not starting from zero.
We have valuable experience now, important lessons learned, and an even stronger base of trust and respect for each other.
What's your bold vision?
