I used to wait for perfect timing, now I experiment.

I used to wait for perfect timing, now I experiment.

Recently I was invited to speak at a lunch event of a big Swiss telco company. There were 100 of us in the virtual room, and we talked about something simple but important: what can we control when everything around us keeps changing?

You may know the answer by now. It's our mindset.

One word came up over and over during the questions: experiment. I could see people nodding because we all do the same thing.

We just wait, wait and wait.
For the stars to line up just right.
We want everything to be perfect.
We tell ourselves we need more info.
Or just that one more training to be safe.
More time, proof that nothing goes wrong.

Of course, this never happes. That's why we discussed exactly what "E" stands for in my C-H-A-N-G-Eā„¢ framework: Experiment. It means start where you are right now. Use what you already have. Do what you can today. (Copied with pride from Arthur Ashe.)

Here's the thing - good things happen when you stop planning and start trying. You test your ideas. Sometimes you mess up. You ask people what they think. Then you make it better. That's how you find out what really helps people instead of just guessing.

Thank you Eszter Petrovics and the Swisscom Women Empowerment team for bringing us all together. These conversations matter šŸ™

What's one small thing you could try today?
